If you read this newsletter, you’re likely interested in stories about body image, body-related issues, the joys of movement, and/or how the body shapes identity. I write about these topics from my point of view, but that’s only one point of view. I’m producing a live storytelling event this summer, The Body Show, to bring other people’s points of view to the stage.
The live storytelling format is simple: People tell a true, 5-7 minute story from their lives, often on a theme. This show’s theme is simply “body stories.” Stories will be funny, profound, heart-wrenching, or anything in between. The show will feature stories from people living in the Washington, D.C. area about things like an obsession with “health,” the bodily experience of acting/theater, trans identity, living with disability, and more.
The Body Show is part of the 2022 Capital Fringe Festival in DC, a self-produced theater arts festival. If you live in the area, please come enjoy the show, or tell someone you know here about it! I’ll also post a video recording of the show to this page in the future.
