Wow! I've always wanted to do one of these storytelling shows, but I think I'd be too nervous! Good for you for doing it -- it sounds like it was awesome!
Oh please give it a try, it’s so fun. I’m always nervous as hell. As long as you’re rehearsed you’ll be good!! A lot of the people in the show I produced were first-timers and they did beautifully
Caroline, I don’t know you but I’m so glad you said you’d love to do one outloud! Go for it! You have permission! Twenty seconds of courage and all that jazz👏🏻! I think you’ll find a personal victory and a great group of people in the process.
Amazing post, love everything about this and now am going to look up storytelling shows!
I heard that episode of TAL. The protagonist, Elna Baker, lost a lot of weight and talked about how it affected the way others treated her. It was very powerful (and a bit of a cautionary tale, since she did it with somewhat sketchy weight-loss drugs, long before Ozempic.)
As a newer reader, I really appreciate you sharing this. First, it’s just fun to hear the tone and personality behind the keyboard and hear the beginning of your journey.
Second, that idea of losing weight but gaining vanity. Wow, I’ve been doing morning chores and chewing on that one like bubble gum. We forget that even in positive changes can come new dynamics that don’t feel especially positive. To be apathetic about health and body tone is not advantageous but to be overly concerned has its own demons.
To relate, I remember when I got tired of being so disorganized and now I am much more strategic and organized, but I also think I’m much more uptight about my schedule and suck the joy out of activities by strictly adhering to the best time management and valuing productivity over people.
But thankfully we are both aware of this new dynamic and can make healthy adjustments to find the messy middle of the two sides.
Great story and I'm not surprised. I'm so glad that you are doing well, but I have to say that last year and thinking about it was one of the best times of my life. It was so much fun doing the Capital Fringe show and you made us all shine. Thank you! Especially for the fond memories.

Mikala, nicely done! So happy to hear about the progress on the book! Wow! Thank you for letting me part of The Body Show last year.
Loved having you so much, Jon! Thanks for all the support

Progress not perfection.
Good luck with the book. Sounds fab!
